Emotional PPE

The well-being of healthcare workers is critical to the continued effectiveness of the healthcare system, which has been running in emergency mode for too long.

Before the pandemic, our mental health system was overwhelmed, understaffed and systematically underfunded. These concerns have escalated as COVID-19 has laid bare all of the vulnerabilities and inequities of a system strained to near-breaking before the pandemic.

CNEPS seeks to improve mental health support and Emotional PPE by identifying best practice resources as we expand awareness and delivery opportunities.  We seek to increase equitable access, identify barriers and opportunities, and reduce the stigma of help-seeking for health professionals.

Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act
In early march 2021, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Congresswoman Susan Wild (D-PA-07) announced the reintroduction of the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act, comprehensive, bipartisan legislation to support mental health care for health professionals involved in the COVID-19 response. It also advocates for research on reducing barriers to mental health treatment, including stigma and licensing.
